The Holidays are about Giving!

Hello friends

Earlier I posted on my Instagram @niftyvintagegirl about a great way to share the love of the holidays with a child who is very much less fortunate than most of us. I always makeup shoe boxes each year around this month for operation Show Box through the Good Samaritan foundation. There domain is below so after you read please feel free to click and see what and how this wonderful group of people make children smile all around the world! This week is the beginning of collection week for the boxes so they can get them to the children in time. Please note you have till next week to drop off so if you want to get them now is the time! I had some ideas for mine this year from a few stores. Some of the kids are young and some older, the the younger kids I checked stores like the dollar store, grocery outlet, TJ Maxx and also Daiso too. Coloring crayons, coloring books, small toys, littlest pet shops blind bags are like $2 each great price…jump ropes, bubbles, plush animals. Dollar store has a few toys that are pretty cool for the younger kids also for just $1 each!  For the older kids, they are usually doing some sort of craft for a small income so including scissors, tape, glue, hygiene products, art products, pencils…drawing pads  and playing cards are a great idea too.   Most local churches will have donation drop off times and dates posted on the website you just put in your zipcode and it will spit out some locations for you! You can also do this at Klove.com as well.

HelloKittyCon 2014 was a dream come true!!

HelloKittycon 2014 was a amazing weekend for many of us lucky enough to attend! I can’t tell you how Kawaii this was without sharing some pictures too. Kawaii, common to many as a word to describe a style but really a word to describe emotion, kindness, love and a genuine care and concern for each other. There was so much kindness at Hellokittycon I know that the thousands that attended like me, will never forget this experience. We can only hope that this will be an event that will happen each year because it made for smiles whether you were 2 or or 52!  Congrats to the many people who put this together, it was more than a success, it was an epic reminder of many of ours childhood memories tied all under 1 building!

Thank you to Sanrio and JapanLaClothing for a beautiful show!

Who else is Excited for HelloKittyCon 2014?

I can hardly wait, as many of you can’t either!! Finally an event to honor the one who makes us all smile!! Hello Kitty…..Yes she is not just my favorite childhood memory but many of us. If you 2 20 or 60 Sanrio manages to bring the best out in all of us. I for one can’t think of anything I have loved longer than Hello Kitty. Being 39 years old now, my fondest memories are with my mom as a child at the Sanrio shops picking out packs of gum and the famous surprise treat  bags!! I still love the visits as much as as I did at 5! Maybe even more now actually….I can’t lie. I have a dream…..I pray that someday I can work for Sanrio and be a part of the smiles and the gift of memories that will always bring smiles!

Hello Kitty CON 2014! Are you in?

The time is nearing…and yes I feel like a kid in a candy shop waiting for the day to come……

Like many others awaiting the con, I feel like a part of my childhood has always been tied up in the memories my mom gave me at the good old Sanrio store. I can hear her now, pick out a couple packs of gum and maybe a grab bag too. My eyes would light up every time we passed the store, and my mom had the same passion as I do now as an adult. We both loved toys, collectables and vintage anything! She taught me the ropes, instilled the kindred spirit I treasure and pass to my own girls and will forever love the memories she made for me.

My child hood lives on…..as I cross this off the bucket list! Screen Shot 2014-09-05 at 12.42.50 AM
